On 26th September, which is the European Day of Languages, we celebrated the range and diversity of languages spoken throughout Europe. The aim was to raise awareness of the wide variety of languages in Europe, to promote cultural heritage and linguistic diversity as well as to encourage people of all ages to learn languages.
Learning a language not only allows us to talk with people from other countries in their own language, it’s also an introduction to different cultures, different ideas and opens up a world of opportunities. At EBS, we also wanted to celebrate this special day in language lessons; students in Year 7, 8 and 9 learnt facts about languages and the benefits of learning and communicating. Mr Giffen also delivered a special assembly to KS3 students and a delicious menu with a variety of European food specialities was served to students.
