This week the MFL Department had a visitor from Colombia and the students loved hearing about the Columbian culture! Señor Restrepo had an enriching experience, learning about teaching methodology here in the UK. He very much appreciated the experience, seeing how a second language is taught. Students were presented with clear objectives before the lesson was taught. He was also impressed wit the use of IT and interactive whiteboards. Señor Restrepo thought there was a lovely atmosphere around the school with both staff and students being very friendly and kind. He was impressed with the standard and level of Spanish in all year groups but particularly enjoyed interacting with Year 13 who showed a genuine interest in the sharing of cultures. Tommy Narvaes-White is completing a research project on Colombian economy over the last 50 years and they were able to hold an interesting and intellectual conversation on these topics and more. In the new year, we are hoping to create links with Señor Restrepo’s students in Colombia and are planning on a joint lesson via Teams.
It was a pleasure to meet Señor Restrepo and we all enjoyed having him in our class.
Thanks, Miss Gough, for introducing him to EBS!
