We were proud to see a selection of our Year 12 English Language students take part in the Guardian Hugo Young Award in early February – this is a writing competition for young writers to write about any issues they feel are important in the world today.
The award was set up in memory of a political columnist, Hugo Young, to inspire students aged 16-25 that attend a state-funded UK secondary school to become young journalists.
Although EBS was not shortlisted on this occasion, we would like to celebrate these excellent writers who are passionate about important worldly issues. Below are a list of our entrants, and their articles can be viewed by clicking on the summary of their article.
Ivor Daniel: The harmful effects glitter has on the oceans!
Leela Moore: Women’s healthcare.
Lewis Welch: The criminal justice system.
Lola Juliet Omran: ‘White feminism’.
