On 19th December, Mrs Direk and Mrs Norton took a group of students in Year 10 and 11 that wanted to learn more about the work of electricians.
We visited Sparklight in New Barnet, where the owner gave an informative no-nonsense talk about the skills required to succeed in a trade-based industry. He emphasised the fact that timekeeping, the correct use of English language, and presentation skills, as well motivation to succeed and get on in life, were vital ingredients. He finished by stressing the important of doing well at school and researching all trade courses at college.
Sparklight electricians work in properties worth millions of pounds as well working for large companies such as Barclays Bank.
Students were offered a chance to do a day at Sparklight in the holidays as work experience.
