This June, we were thrilled to receive a Bronze Rail Safe Friendly Award!
We have been working with our students to show them the dangers of the railway with resources and support from Learn Live and Switched On. Students have found it quite fascinating to discover some of the hidden dangers, alongside those that are more obvious.
Every year there are children that get hurt through accidents or by making the wrong decisions around the rail, but case studies and videos show students just what the consequences can be.
In addition to talking about the dangers, some students who have an interest in the railways, were keen to learn more about careers that could be open to them when they leave East Barnet School, so this programme has been successful in two ways.
With the bronze award firmly under our belt, perhaps we will progress to silver – watch this space!
