The Year 9 girls have had an amazing first half of the season. They are undefeated in the Barnet League, registering three wins out of three with two fixtures remaining. In the Barnet Cup, the girls are to play St Andrews in the semi-finals in late February after beating both QE Girls and JCOSS in the earlier rounds. They have had an impressive run in the Middlesex Cup beating a strong Highgate school 4-3 in the first round, we have been drawn against Wren Enfield and will be playing them on Tuesday, 14th Jan in the quarter finals. The girls have shown an incredible level of skill, determination and teamwork in the national cup. After a bye in the first round, the girls came up against a physical and well-drilled Haileybury Turnford and, thanks to some strong defensive efforts and excellent finishing from Lois Webster and Keisi Bajraktari, we came out on the right side of a 3-2 result. In round three, we travelled to Parminters School and dominated from the start winning 6-1 with four goals from Keisi, 1 from Lois and 1 from Sophie Wilson. The fourth round took us to Buckinghamshire county champions, Dr Challoners High School. On a wet, boggy pitch the girls moved the ball well and transitioned from defence into attack with ease resulting in an impressive 4-1 victory, yet again Keisi troubling the goal mouth the most impressive hattrick followed by a world class individual goal from Amelia Ioakim. The girls have a tough challenge against Surbiton High school in round five, the fixture is due to be played on Tuesday 15th January at The Compton School.
To top off these amazing achievements, after being invited to the Metropolitan Police violence against women and girls tournament, our Year 9 girls ended the tournament undefeated and, thanks to a performance Mary Erps would be proud of, Samantha Constantine saved two penalties in the final shoot out to crown EBS the champions.
