Ghost Stories in the Library

East Barnet School > Teaching and Learning > English > Ghost Stories in the Library

As the winter light faded over the school at the close of the day on Monday, December 8th, the library was transformed into a candlelit venue for a Ghost Stories Christmas event.

Twenty enthusiastic students from Years 7-10 (who had earned their spots by writing chilling pieces of flash ghost fiction) attended and enjoyed classic Christmas and Yuletide ghost stories by A. M. Burrage and M. R. James, performed by our Writer-in-Residence, Ms Green, and School Librarian, Mr Gallagher. The evening also featured a stop-motion animation adaptation of James’s The Haunted Dolls’ House and an engaging creative writing exercise. Hot chocolate and snacks from our wonderful Kitchen Team raised the spirits! We were also pleased to welcome members of the English Department and the Senior Leadership Team.

A huge thank you to our brilliant students, who listened and watched with rapt attention and contributed such inventive and chilling short stories, as well as to our colleagues for their support.
