World Book Day 2025

World Book Day returned to EBS in it’s usual fashion, with the staff dressed up in their finest fancy dress, a themed menu in the kitchen, and of course, literary incentives in the library!

Bibliographic Book Bake!

To celebrate World Book Day, our brilliant student librarians organised a bibliographic bake competition and sale to raise funds for the library’s Young Adult Fiction Collection. Students were asked to bake cakes inspired by books and literary characters, and they truly rose to the occasion. The judging panel included Ms Coffill, Mr Gallagher, and Ms Snell. The quality of all the entries was very high but after deliberation, the judging panel decided to award;

1st, Annelie Drugan and Sarah Evans 12D, The Hungry Caterpillar

2nd, Kye Taylor 9F, Hunger Games

3rd, Sammy Curzon and Elsie Minford 7D, Dogman

Honourable mentions to: Evie Down and Jasmine Harley 7C, Mylo Key 7A, Lily Phillips and Zaylas Noel 7C, Alfie Nottage, 8B, Daisy Smith 11D. House Point prices will be winging there way to the winners and honourable mentions. The sale was a tremendous success, with very happy customers, and raised £126! Thanks to everyone for your support!

The library lent 15 blind date books during the WBD week and lending is at 85 books for the month so far. Keep up the reading habit and visit the library to discover your next read!
