Over the Bank Holiday weekend, three of our talented Year 8 students – Ben Pinfold, Jack Donald, and Leo Bateson – represented Saracens Amateurs RFC at a prestigious two-day rugby festival in Burnham-on-Sea. Competing against top teams from across the country, the boys played a total of seven matches, remaining undefeated until a narrow 2–1 loss in the final – an outcome many would argue did not reflect their exceptional performance.
Throughout the tournament, the trio displayed outstanding sportsmanship, teamwork, and grit. Their efforts not only helped secure the team a runner-up finish, but also earned them individual recognition at Saracens’ end-of-season awards.
- Ben Pinfold was honoured with both Player’s Player and Player of the Year (2024/25).
- Leo Bateson received the Most Improved Player (2024/25) award.
We are incredibly proud of their achievements, and it’s clear these students are stars on and off the field.

Let’s celebrate these amazing students, and perhaps even build towards launching our very own school rugby team in the near future!
We love seeing our students get involved in clubs outside of school! Just a quick reminder – please make sure to do your own checks on any group or activity. We can’t take responsibility for clubs that aren’t run by the school.
