Year 10 Curriculum Evening 2024

East Barnet School > Event > Year 10 Curriculum Evening 2024

On Thursday 10th October, we were delighted to welcome Year 10 students and their parents/carers to the school for the Year 10 Curriculum Evening. This was an opportunity for students and parents to learn more about the GCSE journey, including the academic and pastoral support available to students during this period.

We were particularly lucky to hear from the Heads of English, Maths and Science who each spoke about how those qualifications are assessed, the structure of the curriculum, expectations with regard to home learning and the additional support that parents can offer to assist students in these subjects. In addition, we were joined by colleagues from BICS – a Barnet based service that exists to support children and young people’s wellbeing and mental health. They provided further information about the support they offer and signposted to a number of excellent organisations that can help students during what can be a stressful time.

The undoubted stars of the show, however, were Melissa, Ethan and Lila, students from Year 12 and Year 11 respectively, who spoke about their GCSE experiences and their top tips for how to maximise success. Ultimately, their message was a simple one: time moves fast, so don’t wait to get started and get into good habits!
