At EBS, careers education is a central part of school life. We provide independent, impartial guidance to help students of all ages explore their strengths and passions, and to plan for their future.
From Years 7 – 9 the focus is on career exploration, and students do this through our online platform Unifrog, which helps to identify skills and career interests. We also work with employers, training providers and local colleges to offer real-world experiences. All students complete work experience from Year 10 and meet with our independent Careers Advisor.
Our Key Stage 3 Religious Education curriculum follows a bespoke programme aligned with the locally agreed syllabus. It is designed to develop students’ understanding of religion, belief and worldviews, while building essential analytical and evaluative skills that support learning across the wider curriculum.
Students explore the Abrahamic religions — Judaism, Christianity and Islam — alongside key aspects of cyclic religions such as Hinduism, Buddhism and Sikhism. Through these studies, they examine beliefs, practices and philosophical questions, developing the ability to interpret sources, understand symbolism and analyse religious language.
RE also strengthens transferable skills. Students learn to evaluate differing viewpoints, construct well-reasoned arguments, and substantiate their opinions using evidence. Schemes of work are carefully sequenced to provide a secure foundation for Key Stage 4, ensuring a smooth transition to GCSE and enabling students to reach their full academic potential.
