Careers

At EBS, careers education is a central part of school life. We provide independent, impartial guidance to help students of all ages explore their strengths and passions, and to plan for their future.

In Years 10 and 11, students focus on preparing for life after GCSEs. Using our online platform Unifrog, they explore potential pathways, including Sixth Form, college courses and apprenticeships, and the subjects or qualifications required for different careers. We also provide opportunities to meet employers, training providers and local colleges, giving students real-world insight into the world of work. All students complete Year 10 work experience and meet our independent Careers Advisor to discuss their future plans.

KS4 GCSE Science: Physics

Course Overview

Studying Physics at GCSE is an exciting opportunity to explore the fundamental principles that govern the universe, from the tiniest particles to the vastness of space.

Building on the knowledge and skills developed at Key Stage 3, students develop a deeper understanding of key scientific concepts while enhancing their analytical, problem-solving and practical abilities.

Students can follow either the AQA Separate Science route (triple science) or the AQA Combined Science Trilogy route (double science). Both routes cover essential Physics topics, including energy, electricity, forces, waves, magnetism and space physics, and provide a solid foundation for further study at A-Level and beyond. Separate Science is particularly recommended for students with a strong interest in the subject who wish to pursue Physics or other sciences in more depth.

Through practical investigations, modelling, and contextualised lessons, students not only consolidate their scientific knowledge but also develop critical thinking and experimental skills. The course encourages curiosity, resilience and the ability to evaluate evidence, preparing students for further study, higher education and a wide range of future careers in science, engineering, technology and beyond.
