Course Overview

At Key Stage 5, we’re thrilled to offer an engaging and dynamic A-Level in Geography, following the AQA specification. This course not only expands on the skills and knowledge you have developed in GCSE Geography but also invites you to explore a range of fascinating and real-world topics, blending human and physical geography to give you a full understanding of how our world works.

You will further explore essential areas like Hazards and Coasts, building on what you’ve learned at KS3 and KS4, and applying your skills to more advanced, complex issues. Through these studies, you will explore everything from the impact of natural disasters on societies to the forces that shape coastlines, giving you an insight into both the power of nature and our interactions with it.

The course is designed to prepare you for life beyond the classroom, with a strong focus on real-world applications. One of the most exciting parts of this A-Level is the Non-Examined Assessment (NEA), where you will conduct your very own geographical investigation. This hands-on project allows you to choose a question you’re passionate about, then plan fieldwork, collect data, and analyse your findings. The NEA is your opportunity to apply all the fieldwork skills and research techniques you have gained across your years of study, providing you with invaluable experience in independent research and critical thinking, skills that universities and employers love.

This A-Level isn’t just about learning geography; it’s about experiencing it. You will gain insight into pressing global issues like climate change, urbanisation, and sustainability, with the chance to make sense of how we can shape a better future for our planet.
