Our aim is to inspire students to develop a love of History and to appreciate its importance in understanding the issues that shape our world today. Our curriculum provides students with a rich and coherent knowledge of Britain’s past alongside wider global contexts.

Through fostering curiosity, passion and critical thinking, we equip students with the skills needed to understand the complexity of people’s lives, the process of change, the diversity of societies and the challenges faced in different periods of time. Students are encouraged to examine historical evidence rigorously and analyse differing interpretations, enabling them to challenge preconceptions and form well-informed judgements about the past.

The study of History helps young people move beyond their own experiences and prepares them to participate thoughtfully and responsibly in modern society.

The Religious Education department provides an intellectual and reflective space in which students explore fundamental questions about human existence. In line with the New Barnet Agreed Syllabus, Religious Education is knowledge-rich, enquiry-based and academically rigorous, encouraging students to think deeply about religion and worldviews in the modern world.

Through the disciplines of theology, philosophy and the social sciences, students learn to question, analyse and debate, developing well-reasoned arguments. They study a range of religious and non-religious worldviews, including the six major world religions, exploring both core beliefs and how these are lived out in diverse communities today.

Religious Education encourages students to reflect on their own beliefs and values while developing understanding and respect for the beliefs of others. Students consider how worldviews influence individuals, communities and society, equipping them to engage thoughtfully with ethical issues and a complex, diverse and ever-changing world.
